Dear the last three months, we hate you. During your tyranical reign, we’ve seen a magnified presence of the evidence of a world far from how God designed it to be.
Unfathomable sickness and death, cancerous politics and agendas, depressing quarantine, social and familial division, unprecentdented stress and confusion, ravaging of personal and global economies, racism and murder on the public stage, inaction and overacting at catastrophic scale, bottling up and explosion of emotion masquerading as civil action, hopelessness, sadness, and philosophical disorientation.
As I stand in Target trying to figure out how to get my stupid mask on, the screams of my infant amplify stress, my confused four year old saddens me, and the palpable stress of people staring at each each other, simultaneously judging and crying out for help make me want to scream. I FEEL LIKE A CAGED ANIMAL. Can you relate?
If you’ve read this far, you’re either familiar with the angst I’m describing, looking for hope, or both. Never one to disappoint, I have good news because this season of our lives is also an opportunity to experience two polarizing and powerful truths.
God loves you, is in absolute control, and is using this season as a means to draw you closer in personal relationship with Himself. Some days, one or all of those may not “feel” true, I get it. But they are more true than the momentary strife we are in.
Friends, Romans 8:28 says “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” It doesn’t say life is free of struggle, anxiety, hardship, and loss. Christ Himself told us those would come in many forms, He loves us that much to issue a warning, which is really a call to enter into relationship.
One day I will need your encouragement. But today I’m reminding you to stand firm in the promise that if you love Jesus, love, obey, and follow Him, that there is good at the end of this. For us, for the world, for God’s glory and name to be proclaimed and more to experience the love of a Father who wants to bring His children together in loving harmony.
